About This Benefit
Eligible veterans receive 10 points added to passing scores on state civil service tests. Spouses of disabled veterans and surviving spouses also receive the credit. Former POWs receive an additional 2 points.
State Civil Service Hiring Preference is a state benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible veterans in Maryland.
