About This Benefit

Honorably discharged veterans receive 5 points added to their final passing scores on state screening examinations. Veterans with a service-connected disability receive 10 points. Businesses hiring recently-returned veterans may qualify for up to a $1,000 business tax credit per hire.

State Employment Preference is a state benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible veterans in New Mexico.
