About This Benefit

The Utah State Bar and Department of Veterans and Military Affairs provide free legal assistance to veterans through volunteer attorneys. Services include help with VA claims, family law, housing issues, and other civil legal matters.

Veterans Legal Assistance is a state benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible veterans in Utah.

To qualify, veterans must meet the following requirements: must be a resident of utah.

Why This Benefit Matters

Housing stability. Housing benefits — from loans with no down payment to property tax exemptions — make homeownership more accessible and can save thousands over the life of a mortgage.

Financial support. Financial assistance programs help bridge gaps in income, cover emergency expenses, or provide bonuses and allowances you've earned through your service.

Family protection. Benefits that extend to your spouse, children, or dependents multiply the value of your service. Education, healthcare, and financial support for your family provides lasting security.

Legal protection. Legal services help protect your rights as a veteran, from appeals assistance to civil legal aid. Many programs offer free representation for benefits-related matters.
